Adam remembers exactly where he was when he came up with the idea and first line for Middle of June.

We were doing some boating out on Lake Cascade in June of 2025 and looked over at the mountains and were blown away that there was still some snow on the mountaintops.

We had those two lines since June 2025, all the way up until a few months ago, because we had a lot of songs and this one just got put on the back burner, and also because we got stuck lyrically on this song. We could not figure out which way to take the song’s messaging.

Musically, this song was inspired by Jon Bellion’s album that came out last year. Jon is one of our favorite artists, and trying to find a blend between our folk pop and Jon’s style of music was something we’ve always wanted to do.

I love how we landed on a sort of “Prodigal Son” story. Remembering things you’ve since forgotten and returning to the fold.

Seeing the snow in the mountains during the middle of June is a reference to remembering the spirit of Christmas, when everyone is more giving, connected, and focused on Christ, the true meaning of Christmas. The middle of June is arguably the greatest time of the year as far as weather goes and just excitement about summer, but it doesn’t have that spirit of Christmas.

Middle of June is about bringing the spirit of Christmas to high points in your life, and not forgetting when things are warmer and not just in the darker, more desperate times in your life.
